This liquid crap in on my last nerve...

Recommended Posts

oh my goodness, 1 week on clear fluids! I only had 3 days. When can you switch to full liquids? My surgeon requires 5 weeks full liquids post op, and I'm on week 3. Sick of it! But I keep telling myself "it'll be worth it" + "I don't want my stomach to explode and end up in the hospital for 3 months"...that usually brings me back to reality.

I also avoid the dinner table when the family eats, close the bedroom door, etc. They make sure not to talk about food around me (or they try) which is also helpful.

I understand. Its tough, but remember the goal is to shrink that liver so that your surgeon can perform your surgery successfully. Listening to a lot of music helps, too.

XO,

Ms A

I was supposed to do full liquids 10 days post-op and I only made it 8 days before I had scrambled egg. My NUT let me go ahead and start soft foods at day 10. They usually do day 14 for soft foods. At day 14 I was on solids.

Oh, do I share your pain. I'm 2.5 weeks post-op, on full liquids, but I have to stay on liquids only for another 2 weeks. I picked up pizza for the family tonight because that's just how nice I am. Now the scent lingers in the kitchen and I kind of want to cry. :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
