Hi everyone! I'm brand new to this forum and I am soooo happy I found it so I can ask a million questions. I'm 3 weeks post op. I really enjoy working out. I know they're limiting me to only 30 mins of cardio and I really hate that because I love strength training. My question is, what were your routines like around this time? Did you guys stick to the 30 mins cardio? Did anyone do more? Did it affect the weight loss if you did do more? Please help :)

I am 10 weeks out and you are inspiring me! I was completely drained of energy until about a week ago! Just now feeling like I could work out but not a clue on where to start.

Thanks! I appreciate it. :) I would start with walking or swimming, being that it is summer. And only do what you can. If 5-10 minutes is all you can do, then so be it. Increase every week or so just one minute.

Always, always remember to stretch. It helps to prevent injury and some soreness. Which is another reason why you should take it easy at first. You don't wanna get so sore to the point where you skip 3 or 4 days just because you're in pain. You have ease back into an exercise routine.

If you want to strength train and tone, start with a weight that you can do 10-12 reps, 3 sets. So if you're comfortable lifting 10lbs without horrible struggle, lift 3 sets 10 times each. I personally only do 15 lbs. and I won't go past that because by the time you get to the 3rd set, you'll definitely feel the burn. And that's all you're looking for.

I would check with your physician or dietician to get a good idea of how much you're allowed to workout for. If you work out too much, you go into starvation mode and won't lose any weight. Big no no!

Best of luck to you! =)

And remember, as bad as it is at the beginning, it gets easier and you'll feel amazing at the end.

I am just over 1 week out and my doctor said I can start weight training. Just do not lift over 20 lbs until 6 weeks. Do what you can and feel comfortable with. Good luck!!

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
