So I am 12 days post op and feeling great! I hit the 30 pound loss mark then 31 but since yesterday morning and this afternoon I've gone up 4 pounds. I haven't changed anything and I'm still on a liquid diet. I shouldn't be freaking out right? I just need some encouraging words!

No don't freak out. Your body is adjusting. Your not going to get fat on liquids. Stay off the scale for awhile or you'll drive yourself nuts, it's not necessary. focus on staying hydrated. Good luck!

Before the surgery I would never go near a scale, now I'm scale crazy! But I'll stay off until my post op visit. Thank you

Had one of those WTF moments about the same point, woke up the next morning and pee'd for 20 minutes, (two flusher - http://www.hulu.com/watch/4850) and all was well. No worries.

All normal - and yes, happened to me too. Here is what I recommend - do not weigh every day (it will make you crazy). I weigh myself Tuesdays and Friday.

Someone explained to me like this... each weight is an adjustment to our bodies. Our bodies wants to stay at the same weight. They think of it as normal. So when we lose weight, our body needs to do an internal reset on what is a normal weight. So think of this as your internal weight begin reset. Give it time and it will drop again.

My longest stall so far (surgery was Mar 30) was 18 days. After my 18 days stall, I lost 6 pounds in 3 days. Go figure.....

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
