Last weight management class

How long did you had to wait to get a surgery date after you finished the weight management class and completed all the labs?

I think it just depends on your insurance , and how they work it. I had to do 6 months of counseling, then after labs my surgery was 2 days later. took about 6 and a half months for me, but def once the labs were done I had a date by then...

good luck and congrats!

I finished my six months of classes on 05/14/15. My surgery is scheduled for 07/29/15. So it was two and a half months after. Plus there were more requirements I had to complete before and after classes.

I count myself lucky though as I'm the only one in my class who has gotten a date so far.

Every insurance is different though.

depends on insurance I think. I finished my last class and had to see surgeon for surgery date. I finished class about 3rd week in March, once insurance approved me (rec latter April 3rd) I saw surgeon (April 21st) and could've had surgery on the 29th. I was already on my own doing the pre-surgical diet by the 21st. I scheduled the 6th of May because I wanted to be first in that day - hoping to be able to leave early the next day (NOT). The leak test didn't happen until lunch time the day after surgery (longest, driest 30 hours of my life). I hated that - wished now I had waited to be last in for surgery :/

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
