I did it alone also. Friend drove me. Step sister picked me up. She had to pick me up at the women's birthing center, so there's no telling what she thought!

Be careful if you have little fur-babies who love to cuddle, mine jumped on me the day after I got my staples out! So now, I just keep a pillow on my stomach... And mix sea salt and hot Water and spray daily... That normally helps all other wounds... And it is helping mine tremendously. One week post op had staples taken out and was -10 lbs. I'm scared to check the scales... But I will next Tuesday when I'm 3 weeks post op...

I love this forum! ????

I went the entire process alone. To this day only people from this forum know about my surgery, and I intend to keep it that way. It's very do-able with careful planning ahead of time.

One thing with uber: you have to have an adult check you out of the hospital, and a driver won't be able to do that. I took an uber car home but I had to hire an aide from a visiting nurse-type service as my post op escort. You will need someone to check you out, so keep that in mind.

I felt your feelings also. Didn't tell anyone. I'm 40 pounds down since June. That's a bag of rock salt. (For those who live in that part of the country). The biggest benefit: food doesn't control me anymore. I control it. You have the power!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
