RnY on December 2nd. Almost 4 weeks. Not doing too bad. Still having a hard time getting all my Protein. I have not even thought about fruits and veggies. I am having a problem eating too fast. I set a stopwatch and other various timers, but I am still going too fast. I cause my chest to hurt because I have eaten too much. Any suggestions? How many ounces of purée should I be able to eat?

Also does it hurt if I take a sip of liquid when my meal is finished? Not drinking a lot, but a sip or two?

I could only handle half a cup of puree. Even now after 8 months I'm lucky if I can eat a cupful of whatever the food is. (To me, cup measurements were more useful than weighing the food on a scale. I learned to estimate visually how much I could eat - which is harder when it's ounces or grams!

I guess the best advice I was given was to listen to my body and feel free not to finish the meal if I had had enough. I love leaving food uneaten on the plate now. Perverse, isn't it! (The old hardwiring of 'You have to eat everything that is put in front of you' takes a while to displace!)

I found that if the meal was Soup or 'wet' enough (stews, casseroles, sauces), I didn't feel the urge to drink straight after it, but now I do have a couple of sips of Water straight after some meals. Mainly to balance the strong flavours of say, Mexican, or Italian.

I have found that a little bit of strong flavoured food is a great strategy. I have always preferred milder or even blander flavoured foods, but I now think the subtler flavours encouraged me to eat bigger portions. So maybe prepare stronger flavoured foods and you will find you want to eat less of them, and eat them more slowly.

We're all different, but this seems to have worked for me.

It is a very hot summer in Australia right now and I once made the mistake of gulping down the water like I used to do. My body soon let me know that this was not the way to go. I felt terrible.

April 30 2015 and the best decision I could have made. Nearly one year later I just want to get rid of the last 10 pounds but it's proving to be the most difficult. (I could help by going back to the gym, of course...)

I haven't been on in awhile, it's not a real active forum. I enjoy reading the post when I do log in so I should make it a point to get on every day! I had gastric bypass 12-14 my beginning weight was 240lbs and as of today I'm 107lbs. Really I've finally stopped losing around 2 months ago. I got scared bc my intention was to get to around 125 and when I kept dropping I started freaking out all I thought about was if I didn't figure out how to stop it I would end up dying. I'm 42 yrs old 5'3 and I was starting to look like a meth user. I was a size 20/22 I am now in a size 0. I'm able to eat better and I do a lot of praying and talking to God.

It is amazing that you have dropped so low. I am glad you did not just stay the path and keep losing. I am 42 and 340 at 5'6". At this point I anticipate an end weight around 130-150 but will take it one day at a time and listen to my body.

How have you taken care of yourself now that you are figuring out how to stop losing?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
