Three days post-op - pressure?

Recommended Posts

I have a constant burning/pressure on my chest. Feels like a gigantic belch would take care of it but I can't seem to make that happen. Will this go away??

Sounds like acid reflux. I have been taking Zantac daily since my surgery. It seems to help. You might call your surgeon's office and get it okayed.

Once I was put on nexium that feeling went away. Check with your dr,

For me it was gas or a burp that caused that problem. It was from drinking too fast.

They did keep me on nexium for the first 30 days post op and then we stopped that. Bypass is supposed to cure acid reflux.

I had very severe reflux and Gerd prior to RNY. I have never had another episode. My chest pain always comes from drinking or eating too fast. I have learned to avoid that and then I don't get the burps stuck.

Sometimes when I have to take a pill I find myself gulping instead of sipping and that creates gas in my tummy. I am 9 months post op and even now if I get a burp stuck it is uncomfortable until it comes up.

Drinking through a straw can cause that as well. Adds more air into your pouch.

I was told Prilosec for 3 months after surgery and gasx strips are wonderful! It sounds like you have a gas bubble. The gas from surgery they use to blow everything up so they can see inside your tummy can stay there for a month or so. I had back pains that were really just gas bubbles!

I'm 3 days post! I have the same pressure. Everyone speaks of gas pressure and pains. I'm guessing that's what I'm feeling.

I used a gas x strip earlier this afternoon and it did ease it quite a bit.

I can take a deep breath now.

My dr didn't talk about using gas x. It's okay?

Also, is anyone having trouble actually passing the gas? I'm afraid I'm going to rupture something if I push so I don't pass as much as I need to.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
