4 weeks post op - filet mignon!

Recommended Posts

I was cleared by my NUT today to eat whatever I want (within reason, of course) and it was great! My boyfriend (a chef) made us filet mignon with a mushroom sauce, garlic spinach and sweet potato. He was very cute and put about an ounce of steak, and about a half cup of each veg on my small plate, and I still couldn't eat half of it. But man, did it taste great! So much better to have real food after the last six weeks. And it will taste great for lunch tomorrow too!

I am sooooo jealous cause my program won't allow beef til 5 months post op. Very happy for you cause beef was a big part of my life pre op. Now it will have to be in moderation post op. Best of luck. Brian

Rib eye was my final dinner. With grilled asparagus. Surgery in the morning.

I'm four weeks out and everything I eat makes me sick, other than yogurt! I'm sick of yogurt! But wonder when I'll ever be ready for real food since I can't seem to even tolerate mashed potatoes or refried beans! I'm still on soft foods, any suggestions?

I'm right there with you and at 5 weeks out! A food goes down good one day then makes me sick another. I get sick at work which is awful because I'm s telephone triage nurse and when it hits during a call everything goes on hold. I'm so tired of it I guess I will just make Greek yogurt with added Protein powder my only food. It hurts to be constantly throwing up and drains whatever energy I have in the process.

No I don't regret having VSG but I thought I would have an easier time progressing to regular food. Now I just don't want to eat and risk vomiting each meal....yogurt stays down no problem. Go figure! ????????????

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
