Any feedback on sleeve vs ryn

I was all set on having a sleeve. The by-pass seemed like too much rearranging of my insides -- I wanted simple. Then I found out that since I had a hiatal hernia, the sleeve was not a good idea -- essentially, I was told that I would likely always suffer from heartburn and have to take medication. Well, my long-term goal is to get rid of all my medication (except for vitamins). Plus the doctor convinced me that it has a long history and is considered to be the "gold standard" when it comes to WLS. I'm now 5 weeks out and am doing much better than I thought I would at this point.

I too had my heart set on the sleeve. My dr was the one that preferred the rny. He said he would do either, but he felt I would be happier with the long term results of the rny. I made my decision the day I scheduled surgery. I'm very happy with my decision!

I read of people who have done the sleeve and couple months later they have to go again for rny. I had rny 3 months ago and I'm pretty happy, lost 60lbs. I had some initial complication but now I'm all better.
