How many carbs is everyone eating a day?

Recommended Posts

Mine set a 50g limit, but I normally keep it well under that. If I have a Protein Bar, I might hit 30, but when I don't it normally comes out to about 15-18g/day.

On average i have about 5 to 8 g of carbs a day, I keep it to a bare minimum and sugars to as close to zero as possible. If i do get carbs they are veggie carbs or a little brown rice ( like 2 tablespoons at most) with my Protein but that is about it. if i push over 25 to 35 it slows down my weight loss a lot.

My MD didn't give me a number to stay under. I try to keep mine under 30. If I do that, I lose pretty steadily. Of course I have days where I go over that but it's all about balance.

My NUT didn't give me any guidelines for carbs. She just gave me a Protein goal of 100 grams. In the beginning, that didn't leave much room for carbs at all, since I couldn't eat very much. I'm now almost 10 months out and getting in about 1200 calories a day. I easily make my 100 gram protein target and probably get about 45-ish net carbs a day?

No specific limits on carbs; limit sugars particularly added sugar. I typically ran in the 70-100 gm range the first four months or so post-op, then added more complex carbs before certain workouts to promote better endurance, bringing the averages into the 100-120 range. I would not have wanted the weight to come off any faster than it did (assuming that carb counts have anything to do with loss rate, a dubious proposition.)

What kind of sorcery is going on here?

If you don't mind asking does your diet primarily consist of meats and eggs?

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
