Just wondering if there are any sleevers that are in Manhattan? I checked the boards and I haven't seen any one from Manhattan New York City. Just looking for some encouragement or to offer some encouragement.

When did you have your surgery? What Surgeon? Where? Hoping I can connect with some New Yorkers. :D

Wow! Nice to get to know a fellow New Yorker! I had my surgery on 3-30-15. My surgeon was Dr. Belsley and the hospital was Mount Sinai New York-Presbyterian Hospital. I started out at 240 lbs. I have lost 35 pounds already. I don't exercise much due to spine problems but I do walk. I live in the East Village. I have been a NYer all my life. I've lived in Brooklyn, Queens, and of course Manhattan.I am glad to be speaking to a veteran sleever and Wow you have done a great job, It is very encouraging. If you don't mind can I add you to my friends list? I would like to follow your progress. It will keep me on track.

As long as ur moving. I hope that the surgery helps to alleviate your spinal issues. Thank you. I'm always a work in progress. My fat gene is always tryna creep up. But it keeps me focused. I'm not going back! Sure you can add me. No problem!

Hi Twitty! Dr. Pomp. He did my band, a hernia repair later on and my band removal in April. Who was your surgeon? Which floor did they take you to? I know that there are 2 surgical floors and I have been trying to figure out if I will go to the good one or the bad one :) How was your experience and how are things going?

Hi @@Bndtoslv ! I had Dr Dakin. Surgery was in Greenberg 4th Fl. Then my room was on the 14th floor. My experience was great I've been recovering really well, knock on wood.

@@qnz234 how is dr gorecki and NY methodist? My mom is interested in having the surgery done as well and they recommended her to dr gorecki.

Great thanks! 14th Floor is the better floor - did you have your own room? How many days were you there? How were the nurses? Dr. Dakin is Dr. Pomp's partner and very nice.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
