So many stalls...is this normal? Help!

Recommended Posts

Hi friends!

I was sleeved on March 25, 2015 and have lost a total of 47 pounds. So many people that I know that have had their surgery after me have lost more than me. I am following everything to the letter. I am down to 193 pounds and am so happy but I have been sitting there for a couple of weeks! It seems like I will blow through 7 pounds or so, but when I get close to getting out of one number I stall. For example, if I'm 210 I get down to 203 easily but then when I hit 203, I stall for awhile before I start losing again and get into the 190's etc. Does anyone else have this issue or does anyone have any advice?

Thank You!

The one thing that will completely change later, that is just hard to accept right now is "time". We want it NOW.

The stalls are completely normal and they will continue to come.....and last longer each time...... Stay focused and determined. The weight will keep coming off. ......

.And the time thing......the "I'll never get there at this rate" thing.......Well, you won't believe it now, but.......you WILL look back after you reach your goal and exclaim over how fast the time flew by..... ;)

Stalls are like lovers. Your first will probably not be your last.

I think a lot of people lose weight that way, in big chunks and then stall out for a bit, then lose another big chunk. And seriously, complaining about "only" losing 47 pounds in three months will get you smacked around here! I've "only" lost 60 pounds in NINE months!

Thank you for the responses! I always worry when I stalk that I'm doing something wrong and causing the stall! I'm so happy with the 47 pound loss, I'm just always worried when I stall I won't lose anymore! I'm putting my scale up for a week and just trusting the process!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
