Need advice / apprehensive

Recommended Posts

I am 45 year old male 5'10 /260 pounds with a failed band. Very apprehensive about revision surgery. I have cancelled my date twice and was ready to go June 7 but my doctor has to cancel and reschedule for June 23. Beginning to second guess this decision. I know several people that have had great success. Any advice is welcome!

I say get it!! I had the revision in February. Recovery was easy and since we've already been through it before, I already knew what to do and expect. Just happy to get the band out before any serious complications. And with the sleeve, I feel "full" not stuck. Just go for it!! Good luck ????????

I wanted to back out too! After I had my revision and my doctor told me what a horrible state my stomach was in from that band I am so happy I went through with it. I would have ended up with emergency surgery eventually. And I had no idea that my band had caused that damage. The surgery and recovery was way easier than I thought. I am very happy I did it. I now have a tool that works the way I dreamed the band would but never did. I feel so much better with that band gone.

I had my revision on June 1 so I'm 2 weeks out. I am totally happy so far. With the band I was throwing up all the foods I was supposed to eat and was eating anything that would stay down so I was gaining. After 3 months of trying to get the band adjusted my surgeon and I made the decision to switch.

I've lost 20 lbs in 2 weeks. So far I have had zero instances of throwing up or nausea or anything and I have been able to tolerate a lot of foods. I haven't found anything that is bothering me yet.

My surgeon used the same incisions as the band so I don't have new incisions. He took the band out and did the sleeve in the same surgery. I was in the hospital for two days and then home. No complications at this point.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
