Hello Im on my third day of the liquid diet and I want to know did you all eat the Protein bars because I havent read anyone say anything about the Protein Bars. I eat those and the SlimFast Optima and chicken broth Soup. I also have a popcicle or Jello here and there. Am I cheating by eating the Protein bars. HELPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!

Hello Tina,

I did not do the liquid diet but was asked to eat light over the next 4 days. I will be having surgery on Monday 7/2. The doc did mention that eating light causes the liver to shink and makes it easier to slip the band on. I'm not being as faithful as I should (drinking a little wine tonight). I will suffer Sat and Sun with liquids and no wine. I'm ready to get this over with and start my new life. I'm ready to shead theste 70 lbs and look forward to a beautiful new me! Protein bars should be ok!

Well, I just had my surgery on 6/26/07 and prior to that was on the medifast diet...so mostly liquid, what really helped me was using the suggestions on the boxes...the oatmeal that you can bake up in cookie form or muffin form...it was something with texture and an treat with a cup of vanilla carmel truffle tea (0 calories / fat /anything) also with that diet you are allowed a meal of lean protien and vegitables, what I stuck with was salad and either fish or chicken, I would split my salad and have half at lunch w/ the Soup part of the diet and the other half at dinner. I was able to lose 20 lbs in 13 days! You will be so proud of yourself for sticking with it! Good luck!

Hi All! I have not been banded yet. My paperwork will be sent to the ins. co. this Tuesday. My surgeon said he requires a low fat diet two weeks before surgery. If I could do a dang blasted low fat diet for any amount of time I wouldn't need flippin' lap band surgery!! I'm considering a self-enforced liquid diet. I actually could probably talk myself into that. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

I did not have a liquid diet requirement but I was asked to eat light 2 days prior to my surgery. I did somewhat. Today I'm taking it easy ate a small bowl of Cereal this morning and a medium bowl of veg Soup around 1pm. My dr said the reason they ask this is that the liver shrinks alot when you diet prior to surgery. It's also based on your size prior to surgery. For those who are 220 and under they really don't require a liquid or strict diet, just a small cut back is sufficient. Best of wishes on your approval with the Insurance. Don't give up b/c it's going to be a tough fight! I'm going through it right now. The more you give the more they ask for. It's a battle to get approved!

:help:

Please help. I am on my two week liquid diet eating Jello, popsicles, cream Soups, etc. and I can't take it anymore. I am so tempted everytime I open the refrigerator to get a popsicle or to drink a fruit2O. :hungry:

OK lets see. You are kidding I hope!

If you are not joking then I am pissed at the team that placed your band because you do not seem to be mentally prepared for this...

If you decide to start to shovel it in you are going to be surprised by what comes next.

Over eating and drinking with a band in place can cause serious health risks to you. Very serious!

This implant is no joke. Did anyone teach you anything about how the band works? Or how you are to work it?

God you need to talk to someone that knows what is going on so you can get re educated before you hurt your self.

Again your surgeon should have screened you before placing the band and educated you as to how it works and what to expect etc...

If that is not the case then get back to me and I will get you up to speed. I AM NOT JOKING! I will help you make this band work..ok?

I am banded and down 180 lbs. Know all about the ups and downs with banded life. I am here for you if you need me.

Actually I go back tomorrow for my follow up so I will see then, but my boobs are now sticking out further than my tummy so that has to be a good sign! I have had a tough time getting all my protien in, and have had good luck with the high Protein ensure drinks, 8 oz serving gives you 12 mg of protein...and then for a boost adding protien powder and a little Water to thin it back out, seems to be working pretty well! That and Tomato Soup with unflavored protien powder, because amazing as it sounds I am getting sick to death of sweet! Good luck to you! let me know how your surgery goes! Chris

My husband is really feeling the raft of my frustrations, but he has been hanging in there with me because he understands I'M JUST HUNGRY! Guess what he is cooking now. cheese Fries with bacon ranch-the works! I have had a Isopure shake, Jello, and I am forcing down sugar free orange Tang to fight through the hunger pains I am having right now. I've surprised myself because believe it or not I'm ok. Thanks for everyone's support and encouraging words. Band Date July 5th!

I'd love to hear how you are doing day to day... I am being banded 11th July ...

is there someway we can get each others emails (secretly ) ...)

May I suggest that you try eating like a bandster eats. For example start out with the protien first then move on to small meals ets then start on the Water portion and of course start walking/exercising? May be a great way to refocus your energy.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
