You could ask for a "to go" box as soon as your food arrives.

I am one of those who is still measure at a year and a half.

I had to learn to throw out the last few bites, too.

Miss Tummy makes me suffer and reent for at least four hours if I overeat.

So, my choices are 1) measure and eat carefully,

OR 2) tape it directly to my hips.

Geeze, I should just type that whole thing over, but I would probably have typos on that post, too.

I meant: is still measuring

I meant: repent

Sorry. I can spell, but I cannot type.

I actually have a difficult time eating "too much". I get full very quickly, and if I approach the point where I would be over eating, I have problems swallowing any more food. I was sleeved on March 11, 2015 and have never vomited after surgery. Maybe taking smaller bites and consuming your food slower may help your situation. Good luck!

Jim

Hi everyone . I am 4 weeks out and I don't have that problem. I do have a few cravings for things that I consider this morning syndrome lol. I can only get about 3 teaspoons of anything down at a meal. Plus I have this little cup that holds just what I can eat and eat slow and chew very well and I am full before I finish my cup. I do have an issue of not losing any weight in the last week though. how can this be with such little amounts of food I eat and drink lots of Water? Is this normal (asking all who have been through this gastric sleeve) please I am very nervous about this.I am still weak too.

I'm repeatedly overeating also. I can't find the willpower to stop. I definitely eat less now (5 1/2 mths post op), but can still eat too much & crave all the bad stuff. I didn't have willpower before which is why I gained weight. I thought the sleeve would help. So far I have only lost 38 lbs., & none in 2 mths. Would love some suggestions!

Some suggestions:

Get all your Water and Protein in every day.

Eat Protein first.

Don't buy the food you want to eat that isn't on your plan.

Make an appointment with your NUT and possibly a therapist.

Attend a support group (and consider attending an OA meeting).

concerned about stomach staple leakage

@@NoBsVs

despite what other people might say (family, friends etc)

surgery is NOT the easy way out

"probably" others share your problem about eating too much at times

you/me/we can't change yesterday

concentrate on today, tomorrow

we can learn from our mistakes :)

"concerned" scared about possible complication???

this could be a good motivator for you to slow/knock off the overeating

get back on track

you got to your heaviest weight by overeating and eating too fast

you must not repeat your past history (please  )

easier said than done

remember

don't eat so fast

nobody is gonna grab your plate away

"sounds" like you know the basic rules :)

what to do, but having trouble following

you could use/need some support - lots of it

we are all great, right there for you

but.............personal interactions would be helpful too

do you have meetings you can go to???

meeting/hearing other people in your situation can help :)

talk about your problems, hear their problems too

one hand washes the other :)

talk to you NUT/doc about your dilema

maybe they can be nice and patient and talk to you

whisper sweet nothings in your ear  :D

i have confidence in you that you can/will get past this "phase"? and stop overeating

you will conquer this ;)

you have lost 20 lbs PO

that's great!! :)

good luck

best wishes

kathy

Now that the sushimi is out of my fridge, I've gotten the over eating back under control. Now my issue is eating things I probably shouldn't (spicy foods, full-fat versions of foods(though still low carb), and quite a bit of fruit), plus snacking occasionally(not on anything too unhealthy, unless you consider pickled okra and cantaloupe unhealthy).

I had a tortilla chip for the first time today. Just one with some salsa. This was after I'd gotten all of my Protein in. My stomach didn't seem too happy with it, so I'm going to keep avoiding them.

As far as support groups go, we only have one that meets once a month here. I really think they should be meeting once a week, but I obviously have no control over that. I attended the first one right after surgery, and I plan on continuing to attend them. Hopefully, that will help me get back on track as well.

There's nothing wrong with spicy food or full fat foods. A lot of people actually recommend full fat over low fat, because depending on the food, the low fat version can pack in more sodium and sugar to make up for the flavor. Read your labels. As a general rule, I try not to eat anything that has more grams of fat than grams of Protein. But with as little as we are able to eat, having full fat versus low fat doesn't generally make much difference in terms of calories and the total amount of fat we are intaking is still well within healthy perimeters.

Too much fruit and/or veg would only be a problem if you are filling up on that and not getting all your Protein in.

Be aware that in the early post op weeks your stomach may not have sensation due to nerve damage. I personally would buckle down, avoid restaurants and eat by mesuring spoon and scale until you are more practiced in the art of eating properly for the sleeve. That is what I did...just a temporary thing to help me along.

I too have struggled with overeating at times....I'd like to blame it on stress but I know it is a choice. I don't have the "waste food" issue though because I think it is kind a cool that I can order something healthy that I like and then have it for lunch the next day....and maybe the next....it's all in perspective people!

You will never really stretch the stomach just the new connection to the intestines from the stomach. Which means you are setting yourself up for failure because you are already stretching it at week 4 before you have even healed. I would suggest talking to someone at your center as to what your mental state/frame of mind is around how you have been eating. Obviously based on your post you know it's wrong/not healthy adore your long term maintenance of weight loss or initial success. Nip it in the butt now.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
