Tomorrow I'll be 2 months post-op and I've loss 31 pounds. I'm happy that I'm loosing weight, but I'm starting to regret getting the bypass and wish I went with the sleeve. The weight is coming off very slow for me and my surgeon confirmed it.

Ahh Brenda, I feel for you I really do. I have had the rny and I am losing slowly compared to others on this site, in fact it bummed me out so much that I had to stay of the site for a few days because I felt like a failure.

I think we are the tortoise and we are in this for the long haul and I believe after bawling my eyes out to my husband last night as he said to me "this is a marathon and you are in it for a long run give it time and do what you know your suppose to do".

It sucks even more when you think I have been so good I haven't cheated, though I seem to be able to get in more fluids than others, is that the reason for slow weight loss.

Though I still wish it would come of quicker , I've done everything I can all that is left is to do my exercise eat according to the recommendations and wait... wait...wait oh god the wait....

I think statistically the overall weight loss you can expect with gastric by-pass is much higher than that of sleeve patients. Keep moving and drinking Water, it will come!

Why the regrets? You're doing great! Thirty-one pounds in two months is almost four pounds per week. Congratulations. Celebrate your victories!

I know that my victories have come in other forms not necessarily the number on the scale. I feel better, that's #1. My breathing, my mobility, my sleeping, all have improved. Seeing it in my clothes and shoes. Yes I'm down a half size. I wouldn't get down on yourself because in my eyes, I have fought my weight my whole life. It didn't just come up and I said I'm going to have surgery. I have never lost 2lbs in the same week with the exception of giving birth. The most weight prior to surgery I was able to lose was 31 lbs in 6 months. This journey of learning how to eat, changing my activity and seeing the difference is worth it to me. I have stopped focusing on the number and just focusing on how happy I am with my changes. If I was counting and placing and planning everything I put in my mouth I would be crazy. I know what's right from wrong and I work with it. I'm still working hard. Continue the hard work you will see the results!

Stay focused! Not on the scale but on doing what you are supposed to be doing, if your not already start exercising. It will come off, it has too!

I'm almost three weeks post op and lost about 15 pounds. In fact in the first two weeks I lost only 9. I was frustrated too but thought, I didn't do this because I can't LOSE weight, I did it because I can't keep it off. So it was still worth it. And the last few times I lost weight by dieting, it took a while for it to kick in and then it started coming off regularly. I'm hoping that'll happen again!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
