Nine days post-op and Gaining Weight HELP!

Recommended Posts

I'm nine days post op and suddenly I'm slowly gaining weight. I've read other postings on here and I know that my body is still healing and I could definitely be retaining Water since it's my time of the month. But I'm freaking out. I'm wondering if I might be eating too much sugar. The only thing I eat that contains fructose is my Greek Yogurt. And I might have 2 of those a day. How much sugar is too much sugar? Please help.

The only thing you are doing wrong is weighing too often.

STAY. OFF. THE. scale.< /p>

I agree stay off the scale, your body is doing it's own thing during your cycle any way. You are young. Just keep doing the right things and weigh yourself once a week and allow Water weight gain during your cycle.

I weigh everyday because those were the instructions given to me by my surgeon. In the packet I got it says to go to the hospital if I gain more than 2-3 pounds over the course of a couple of days. I've been regaining a few ounces for 2 days now. So far a total of 1 pound and I know it's not a lot but I'm scared.

I lost 22 pounds on the pre-op diet. It took a week and a half to lose that, then I started soft foods and gained a few ounces again. Then I started losing and at three weeks hit the dreaded third week stall. Then at week four started losing a few pounds a week.....slower than some folks, but the process works. I am one of those people that does weigh every day. That is a crazy-maker for some folks but it keeps me on the straight and narrow. Stay with the particular plan you were given, chin up, and good luck.

@@Miss Mac - so you stalled at 3 or so weeks post op? That's what I thought the 3 week stall was when I referred to it earlier and was told something different. I am 3 weeks 5 days out and the scale hasn't moved since last Thursday.

Yep.......and so do a lot of folks. But be aware that stalls are like lovers. Your first will probably not be your last!

Okay. Here's the deal. You ARE NOT going to see constant weight loss through out this process. Right now it is physically impossible for you to be gaining weight by what you're eating alone. So just breath and relax. You're not doing anything wrong.

The body has normal stalls and fluctuations every day. It's constantly doing adjustments, especially the first couple months. Just continue to follow your program and try not to worry about the scale fluctuations. That's why Kindle recommend you stay off of it for a while. If you can't handle the normal day to day fluctuations without it ruining your whole day, then just weigh once a week or even once month. That way your aren't seeing them. I promise the weight will come off. Just be patient.

Oh, that's really strange.. plateaus happen.. usually when I plateau, I will bounce up and down 2ish pounds. Right now I'm in my 3 month stall, and bouncing between 259-261 for a week and a half.

Make sure you are getting your liquids in.. up your Water intake..

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
