Looking for my June 1 buddy's ?

My Dr. already put me on soft foods yesterday. I think mostly because I am unable to keep the shakes down. I am 14 days out today. I can only manage about 3 or 4 oz and feel full for 4 to 5 hrs at least.

I like being able to eat new stuff, but it's hard to get in Protein and fluids and still have room for more. I added unflavored protein to broccoli cheese Soup. It had so much flavor from Protein Shakes and jello! Gonna try cottage cheese today.

I am having my surgery on Monday June 8th. So excited and scared at the same time. Can I join this group?

There is also a June 8th forum.

How are you doing, I can't wait for soft food!

So glad to hear you are doing well! I have so much catching up to do. my phone wasn't working correctly to reply. I'm on my fourth day of week 2 and doing really well. I too had to use Isopure as I couldn't get a shake down but then I developed this horrible aversion to anything sweet I guess this is normal so I just had to dilute everything down I still can't stand sweet stuff but I am just forcing it down now. I also suffered gas pain in my back around my shoulder blade and chest when I started walking more it went away so walk walk walk it helps.

Has anyone found a good recipe site for barriatric patients? I guess any healthy site would work but curious if anyone has found one.

How's everyone doing? I had the famous 3 or 4 week stall. I noticed earlier this week how head hunger or bad habit still lingers in the mind. My eating issue has always been snacking or eating late night when I go to bed and watch tv, when I started my journey my nut stated I could snack at night but w Protein. I snacked healthy at night from beginning of journey until last week. At 10 pm or so I normally would go get 1 tsp of hummus and 1/2slice of monterrey cheese. Well I stopped and said to my self does my stomach feel hungry-no. Ok, it's just a habit and this could hurt me in the long run so I haven't snacked at night in a week, instead I find something else to focus on like a movie or something. I'm trying to be more aware of my body and true hunger since I'm loving the wls results.

Sounds like you are doing well! I hit "the stall" as well. I seem to be going again, but a little slower pace. I have increased my activity and can't wait for clearance on lifting weights again so I can avoid the loose skin as much as possible. How is the "food" going? I seem to be hungry quite a bit, but I'm so afraid of eating too much, maybe I'm not eating enough?

The eating is good just tired of limited menu so I'm ready for next phase. If your hungry you can have a snack between meals. I'm down 30 lb from day of surgery.

That's great! I'm down 29 since surgery. I'm on soft, not pureed now. So I've been able to chew meat and cooked veggies, but can only get in about 7 small bites before I'm full. Then I get hungry about 2.5 hour later, but I try to only eat every 3.5 to 4 hours. Getting in 1 shake and 3 "meals" a day. About 4 to 500 calories. Still kind of weak, especially after walking. Not sure how to increase without it hurting. Water is hard, but I get it in, barely.

I am down 38lbs since June 8th and 62lbs total. I have bit hit a stall yet, just slowed for a week. Usually 0.7-1.5lbs daily. But early last week it was slower. Only lasted 3 days. Still can't get down more than 2 oz of meat each meal. chicken breast is way too dry. I had to switch to thighs. Lots of chicken, cottage cheese, eggs, and shakes. I bought some fish to try. My calories are always around 400-700. Still never hungry.

We went on a camping trip, and I brought hard boiled eggs, cottage cheese, cubed cheddar, chicken thighs, and shakes. It's all about the prep!

I'm down 52lbs total, 32 since surgery. I hit stall for about a week. I had a small vacation, very hard to eat on the go, but arbys has turkey, and Wendy's grilled chicken wrap(only ate chicken and cheese) was good. I'm dealing with temps in the upper 90s, trying to excersise is hard as is staying hydrated. I drink over 64oz, but in this heat and humidity, it's not enough. My stomach won't hold more and heat makes me nauseous.. Anyone else? Going to swim today, if it stays under 100!

I had my phase 2 meeting with my NUT and I asked her about this stall I had been on for 1.5 wks.

We went over food intake, Water, supplements and working out. At this stage she mentioned I should be trying to balance all of these key things becuase one could slow down the weight loss. The next day I went back on the tred mill and stayed on a little longer and WALLA. The scale started going down the next morning -3 lbs. Since then, the scale has been going down -1 lb or 1/2 lb per day. Anybody going going through these small stalls here and there? The NUT also gave me a killer receipe which I cannot wait to try, she swore by it:

pancakes:

1 egg

cottage cheese

cinnamon

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
