Having to urinate all the time!

Recommended Posts

Hi I'm am scheduled for surgery June 2 and am on my 5th day of my pre-op diet and doing really well. The only problem I'm having, is with the Protein Shakes and the 64 oz of Water every day I am having to pee all the time!! Like every 15-20 minutes I've gotta pee so bad my eyes water! I'm spreading all of my Fluid intake over the whole day. Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions on how to make this better??

I too am having this problem. I have also noticed that my ankles have started swelling.

I'm having the same problem! I probably looked like a crazy person at work running to the bathroom every ten minutes! I think it's supposed to get better - your body will adjust to the amount you're now drinking.

Well, we are actually losing quite a bit of Fluid on the pre op diet. I am having to go quite a lot too, but at least I'm getting it out! Do not feel as bloated as I did.

Yeah I've found that I'm way more thirsty since I started the pre op diet but that just makes it easier for me to get used to drinking so much Water. I bought a 32 oz bottle so when I go back to work, I just need to remember to drink two of them a day!

i did this too before surgery. I'm two weeks out from surgery and I'm lucky if I pee two or three times a day. I get my 64oz of Water every day. not sure why that is. maybe my body absorbs it more since that's mainly what I'm taking in all day.

I have been peeing a good bit since surgery on Tues the 26th. I think it is due to all the iv fluids too. Yesterday got in 38 oz Fluid and 4 oz Jello. Today I have done 11 oz Water, 8 oz broth, 10 oz sugarfree Powerade so far. The broth seems the kindest. Warm feels nicer than ice cold.

@@kimby1029, I feel the same way about warm liquids. Cold liquids seem to give me worse stomach cramps but warm liquids seem to do just fine! Yogurt excluded, since that seems to be OK for me too.

@@lexiemia is also on Clear Liquids and tried some nectar something for Protein. That might help.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
