Hello Everyone

I had gastric sleeve surgery in December 2013 but now I have to have a laproscopic hysterectomy next month. Have any of you ladies had a laproscopic hysterectomy? If so how was the pain compared to gastric sleeve surgery?

It wasn't terrible, but much more painful than the sleeve. As with any surgery you will feel the most pain and soreness after the first few days. I had to have help getting in and out of bed for about a week (I have a high bed & I am short). I was out on med leave for 3 weeks after my hysterectomy-and you will need every bit of that time to start to feel normal. Just don't pull, lift, and over - exert yourself and you will be fine. Good luck!

I had a laparoscopic hysterectomy about 3 years ago. I had no pain whatsoever. Spent one night in hospital and home by lunch the next day. I was driving within a week of surgery. I don't even think I took any of my pain meds after I got home

I also had a laparoscopic radical hysterectomy (everything was taken out vaginally) 25 years ago. 2nd easiest surgery in my life. The estrogen I had to take for 25 years (which I stopped before sleeve surgery, and I won't take it again) caused my boobs to hurt all the time, and kept weight on me. If you have to take estrogen, opt for the lowest possible dose.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
