Hi everyone! I've been off this forum for a long time since having my vsg on 4/24/13. My starting weight was 240, sleeved at 220 and currently at 183. My struggle now is that I feel hungry very shortly after I eat, and I snack a lot because I am hungry! 4 months after my surgery I found out I was pregnant. Even with all day sickness I only lost a few lbs and in my second trimester I started getting VERY HUNGRY! I feel like it kinda ruined my surgery having a baby so soon (wasn't planned). When I was breast feeding I got down to 167 but since I stopped I've only gained. I've also had issues with my thyroid that are still being worked on, but I feel like I can eat way too much and that I failed my surgery :(

Now I'm totally depressed, feeling fat and like a failure. I have no clue what to do!

I'd like to get down to 150 (a personal goal) but I don't know where do start.

Maybe you should start by reconnecting with your doctor and nutritionist. They may be able to offer some solutions.

Also, you don't mention whether or not you're still exercising. If not, it might help to move things in the right direction.

I haven't been exercising which is something I want to start doing again.

The basics. Protein first, follow Water rules, exercise, log your food in myfitnesspal, and weigh now and then (I do every day) I know its hard to get back on plan, and with a new baby, you must be tired as well! ....But the only way to really get the results you want, is do just that. I just finished the 5 day pouch test, which really is just eating low carb and high Protein, its only 5 days and is a kick start to getting off the carbs and snacking which really has helped me. Get back on plan while your still ahead, down almost 40 pounds is great!

....Petra, I just noticed you have a lap-band... this is a Sleeve forum, I don't know so much about the band, check with your Band Dr. You may need an adjustment and advice from him/her.

Your profile says you have a band. You might be able to change that in your profile preferences....

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
