What's the first food you cheated with after Gastric Sleeve Surgery?

I ate a couple bites of my kids funnel cake the other night, I paid for it for hours. I think because it was kind of doughy. Idk but I learned my lesson!

Soda couple sips, mago juice 5oz, 1 chicken nugget... I just can't believe how I did it... The nugget made me sick...I'm 9 days post-op

How did the soda make you feel? I would have thought that would have made you sick before the chicken nugget would.
Believe or not I just burp... I was kind of OMG!!!.. I'm not fan of soda is just that stuff temp me and that hasn't go away... I want to eat and try stuff so bad..

I kept eyeing a can of lays stack chips that were in my cabinet. About 6 weeks post op I came home one day and ate 1/2 the can. Then I finished it off during the week but had trouble getting more than 4 chips down each day. I no longer keep anymore junk food in the house - don't want the temptation but I no longer have a craving for those chips ????

I'm the same way. While I never get hungry anymore, the craving for bad stuff is definitely still there, especially when it's right in front of me.

I'm going to the movies with a friend in about an hour, and I know she's going to order a giant beer before the movie. It's going to be a hard thing to sit through, knowing I want one so badly.

You Sir are a brave brave man. lol I did something similar with some Won Ton Soup I had about a week post op, except I chewed up all of the vegetables in it and spit them out.

Once a cheater always a cheater. Two days post, I couldn't take the broth anymore, so I went to Sonic and ordered a Jr. Cheeseburger with mustard, ketchup and onions. I chewed each bite about 20 times and spit it all back into the bag. Pretty nasty, but the taste, woooo weee. I felt like a fat kid in a candy shop. Awesome. But to actually eat, 5 days out, went to this great seafood place to Celebrate a major event in our family and had oysters on a half shell. Went down smooth of course and sat well. That was the same fat kid in the candy shop, but actually eating the candy.

To be fair though, while certainly unhealthy, my cousin, who also had the sleeve done, said she lived off of McDonald's cheeseburgers for the first several months after her surgery as soon as she was able to eat solids.

I get scared anytime I put anything in my mouth that I know I'm not supposed to. At this point, I'm more worried about rupturing my staple line than anything else. I imagine that 6 weeks out(when I should be able to tolerate most foods), I'll start being a lot braver, which could be a dangerous thing.

I think the key is to reign it back after you mess up. Knowing that there can be dire consequences to bad choices helps with that.

If you don't mind me asking, did this adversely affect her weight loss or did she lose a good amount regardless?

She started out at 300lbs. Got down to 170lbs and is now three years out and maintaining. I think it slowed down her weight loss, but it definitely didn't stop it.

Please note, I do not advise that ANYONE tries to live off of McDonalds cheeseburgers just because they can get away with it and the portion size reduces the amount of calorie intake. We all know this is not healthy.

Cool. I'm glad she was able to get to a decent weight and maintain it.

Didn't it hurt going down??

I probably would not be able to resist a chocolate cupcake either. Or chocolate cake. Or any kind of cake, really. :-p

Vickylyn1973, I was sleeved on May 19th and yes they are good. Just one or two and they dissolve in your mouth easily.

I didn't have the sleeve, but bypass and sleeve patients have the same diet rules!

I had my bypass may 11th.

I am supposed to be on full liquids for two weeks.

I did great the first week and then 4 days into my second week (so 4 days before my two weeks) I had cod. The next day, tuna. And now a day before my two weeks I had shredded beef.

I don't feel guilty about it at all. I also will be straight up with my surgeon at my appointment and tell them what I had.

We are human! As long as we steer back to the right path, we are okay!

McDonald's vanilla Ice Cream (didn't eat the cone)...believe I had dumping syndrome afterwards. This was 2 weeks post op, and the best negative reinforcement I've ever had!

Don't "weigh" yourself down in emotions...we are not eating enough of anything to call a bite here or there cheating. Just keep the snacking in control. We can do this!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
