Day 2 of my all liquid only preop diet, surgery on June 1st. Day 1 wasn't too bad but I did get nausea from shakes, I just got grossed out. I can only drink shakes, 1 cup of broath, and Jello. So enjoy each bit of your Protein for those of you who get 1 meal per day. Today was a little harder, like when I was making dinner. I'm staying strong but craved food. I also got a light headache earlier but no biggy. My only concern is I'm going with my daughter and her class to an amusement park tomorrow, so I hope it goes well tomorrow. Crossing my fingers!

I have also been having headaches. It will all be worth it in the end!

I have Migraines anyway so I was worried about the headaches too. But it has been ok.

I am on Day 5 of my all liquid diet. 2 more days to go of Protein shakes. On Monday I have to do all Clear Liquids with nothing to drink after 11 pm. Surgery is at 11:00 am on Tuesday.

For me, Day 3 was the worst. I had a horrible headache and was exhausted. It has gotten better since then.

Just stick with it. It will all work out in the end for us.

I'm on the pre-op, but don't start only liquid for another 2 weeks- surgery is in June. I'm definitely nervous and hoping I'm doing the right thing.

I start my preop diet on Monday... R preop shakes per day for 14 days. That's it. Feeling some doubt right now but constantly reading these forums so I can keep my eyes on the end game.

As I contemplate WLS, one of my fears has to do with headaches. I have chronic Migraines and am afraid the super low calories will trigger more migraines and cause more headaches.

Hey! If I'm on day 5 of 14 and still going strong, so can you! I'm the girl who loves wine every night and sitting down with papa johns. If I've got this... YOU'VE got this!

So interestingly enough, I've had migraines since I was 6 years old and this didn't even cross my mind before starting the preop diet (or even when considering wls). This may be TMI, but my migraines are triggered by a number of things but I can at least count on one every month with hormonal changes lol. If I were to get a Migraine this month it would/should have coincided with day 3 of my preop diet. Shockingly I didn't even realize I didn't have one because I've been so focused on doing well on the diet. When you posted this I realized that this is the ABSOLUTE FIRST month I have NOT had a hormonal migraine. Now, my average cal consumption on the diet has been 700-900 (I promise you thats the lowest amount I have ever willingly consumed lol), and I have yet to have a migraine. I hope this gives you some comfort! And I've said it before and I'll say it again... if you're eating >100mg Protein, physically you will most likely NOT feel hungry, mentally you will. You can do it!

My surgery is June 17th. I have been doing test runs lol so to speak. I have dropped a lot out of my diet for the last month. bread Pasta rice has been gone for about 2 weeks. Focusing in salads Proteins and shakes. I have no means perfect but I am doing it in babysteps ..no food funerals for me lol that would just be a disaster. I only have to be on preop for a week it looks like. Good luck everyone :) here cheering u on

have you tried the cherry flavor? I purchased the sample pack and so far they have been really good, but I wanted to try the cherry and my pack didn't come with it. I love all things cherry flavored basically, but I had never heard of cherry Protein until I looked at syntax brand. Anyway, I agree syntax flavors are really good and a really nice change when you are sick of the usual chocolate, vanilla or strawberry!!!!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
