So I had surgery 5 mos ago, my cholesterol was moderately elevated and I was on Lipitor. After surgery my cholesterol was very low, I got off Lipitor. Now I just had blood work and my cholesterol is high and my dr wants me back on meds. My dr also wants me to eat more fish and chicken and cut way back on cheese, red meat, lunchmeat and high fat foods. I don't eat a lot of those things anyway but I am going to increase my veggies and fruits and probably add a Protein Shake back in to meet my daily goals. I work out with a trainer 3/x a week and walk/run 2 other days. Just taken a bit by surprise today. I am down 78 pds since Dec 3.

When I had my one year check-up, all of my nutrient values were super-dooper, by my cholesterol was OMG way off range. My doctor put me right back on Lipitor and gave me the same advice you got. In my case it will be Peanut Butter and cheese that goes......so sad. Darn.

Miss Mac, check into PB2, it's a powder Peanut Butter my NUT turned me onto. It tastes just like PB (cause it is) - just minus the oil & fat. Amazing stuff. I put it in my protien shakes too. Also 1 vanilla protien packet + 8oz skim milk + 2tbsp PB2 in a zip lock back, in larger zip lock bag put 4c ice + 8tbsp large salts - put little bag of protien shake into big bag of ice. Shake for 5 minutes & you have an amazing peanut butter ice cream!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
