Well, one week ago I was just about to undergo my initial anesthesia. What a crazy week! Today I am in almost no pain and my incisions have almost all healed. For anyone worried about the surgery, there is some pain, there is an inconvenience factor, but overall no big deal.

Glad the information was helpful. If you have any other questions/concerns, please feel free to check in with me. Today is day 10 and the pain in the incision site is almost completely gone. Was able to get on and off the floor to play with the dog last night...that was fun! The head hunger is pretty intense sometimes, I would kill for a cheeseburger!

That's a good way to word it, head hunger, I'm dealing with that now, day 2 of Clear Liquids, surgery is tomorrow at 4 so that means nothing to drink or eat all day, but I'm looking forward to 2 weeks from now! Glad you're doing well!

My surgery is June 9th, and it's a relief to hear that you've had smooth sailing so far. I swing between uber excitement and sheer panic. This calms me more than you can know. Keep us in the loop as you progress...

today was slightly better than yesterday, doc decided to keep me one more night as it was very difficult to get liquids in, and didn't want me dehydrating, which I'm fine with, I'm about an hour away from my hospital if there's no traffic so it rather be here if something were to happen :) I got some pain meds about 45 mins ago and they are kicking yay! Should be going home tomorrow mid day God willing :)

I had my surgery on May 20th and I was nervous but the truth is that the Main discomfort has been the gas pain. Incision is healing nicely. Since I been home only used the pain med twice.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
