Absolute relief. No more second-guessing and the fact that I woke up (I'm super pessimistic). Great feeling

Great question. How long until you got up to walk? Where are you now in this journey? I keep saying "if I survive" so I guess I am a pessimist too!!,????.

My first thought in recovery was how great it was that I wasn't nauseous. First time I've ever woken up from anesthesia not wanting to throw up. Then I fell back asleep for another 3-4 hours and the 1st thought upon that waking was where's my iPad...gotta let my parents know I'm OK. After emailing them and Facetimng with my sister, I hunkered down for a night of wandering around the halls and watching TV. Glad it was done and ecstatic that I had no pain or nausea.

I agree with those above who said "Relief". I was so relieved to be DONE jumping through hoops, done appeasing my insurance company, and meeting all criteria. I also had no nausea, and after an hour nap, I was up walking every hour till I went home the next day at 8am.

My first thought was to thank God that I had survived and simultaneously relief that the surgery was over. My next thought was about how nauseated I was, which I expected since that is how I react to general anesthesia, but assumed they would manage it better. They soon had that under control though.

Glad it was over! And very groggy. It took me a really long time to really wake up. My op was at 7:30am and though I was taken back to my room by 11am, I wasn't really "with it" till 8pm that night. Good news is by the time I was really with it, I felt better than I expected and was up trucking around the ward as prescribed.

Ditto on the, I'm still here! Then the next feeling was I did it, no turning back now. I had great pain killers on board and an NG tube for the first 24 hours so very minimal gas pain. I napped for an hour or so then started walking every 2 hours...slowly at first. I was a SADI so I was in the hospital 3 days. By the time I left I think I wore a trench around the unit from all my walks. :D

When u woke up what did it feel like. What went through your head?

Mainly I was ticked someone woke me up :) I was having a great nap. For a while I was dozing on and off coming off the anesthesia and my nurse kept hollering for me to take deep breaths (they were measuring my C02 output) but all I wanted to do was sleep....for me, I never had any negative thoughts popping in, I was and am sure this is the best thing for me. I know the pain will go away, I know I'll be able to eat (fairly) normally eventually. I am not a stranger to pain so this is a blip for me (I have degenerative disc disease in my back, arthritis in both knees, bursitis in both knees and shoulder, Fibromyalgia, etc.) I know this surgery will also help me manage those things better :) Yes, the gas pain is bad, but not unbearable...however I have a fairly high tolerance for pain...everyone is different. And my gas pain didn't kick in until I was home for a while (next day)...I was feeling great at the hospital! Now I feel like I've been hit by a truck lol

Bottom line, my advice is to go with the flow, don't fight the pain, roll with it, makes it easier to deal. Good Luck!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
