I have my first seminars at a couple of Bariatric centers over the next 2 weeks. I called my insurance co. today to get a list of their requirements so I'm just starting out like you.

I know for blue cross you can get requirements online. How it works is they use a company called Interqual and they answer questions online and based on answers you get approved or denied. I know Blue uses Bmi requirements. If you are 35 bmi you need a comorbity. The insurance companies usually follow Medicare guidelines. I would be interested in what insurances we all have and how soon we get approved. I have Fallon and they use Interqual but they told me fallon does it on a case by case

I day I have my appointment with the surgeon. I am excited and nervous on how much weight I am going to be required to loose before they give me a surgery date. I am hoping this process is faster then what I have been seeing on here 6 months.

I am just starting my process. Went to the seminar. Have my bloodwork tests scheduled. Will see the surgeon, psych, and nutritionist on June 17th. I'm hoping for a mid-July surgery also, as I'm a teacher and need to get this done while off work!

That's quick. My insurance required a 6 month nutritionist. Some are only 3 months. Mine will be in August

I just had my first appointment least week. I have a 3 month wait per insurance. I'm excited and nervous at the same time. One good thing is my doctor is a level 1 cross fit trainer as well with a gym so I get work outs too!! He wants to do an ecg to see if there are any hernias in the way sometime in the next 2 months. Has anyone done that procedure? If so how was it?

I started not long ago, I'm on the first month of my 6 month documented diet plan. Hoping to schedule surgery in the fall! I would say if you have any questions about length of time, insurance requirements etc, call your insurance company directly. I was first told by my doctors office there were no dietary requirements by my insurance just to receive a call back a few days later stating there was. I was so disappointed that after years of research I had to now wait another 6 months! Good luck to you all!

Went to seminar last week. Consult with surgeon yesterday. My 6 month waiting with monitored diet began May 20. (Which I think is a total waste of time and co-pays)! I'm hoping to have surgery in November. Patience.... Sigh!

How are you? I'm with you I definitely think it's a waste of time I have to wait 6 months to. Do they really think that being cut on is our first choice I have been trying to lose weight for 14 years and now 6 more months...

@@sleever314 I am doing good and you? I think it's crazy to have to wait that long.. I did my consultation on may 7th and had to wait until June 10th just to do the initial intake. . It seem like I been waiting forever to get started.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
