Hi... I had my surgery on May 5th 2015. And I've been home since the 7 th .I am doing well getting all my fluids in and some if it being Protein. I have at small amounts of cottage cheese, Soup, and cream of wheat. So statistically I am doing great. However I am so tired and weak that it's breaking my spirit . Everything exhausts me and it's something I am not use to. I am a busy body by nature so even only being a week out I feel like I'm going insane. I walk daily and have gotten out a few times but it takes everything out of me. I need to see the light at the end of the tunnel.... Any advice or words of encouragement? Thank you

Well I'm only getting maybe 20 grams of Protein at the Moment which is fine with my surgeon at this point as he is more focused on staying hydrated for the first two weeks. I should try beneprotein so I can more in... Thank you

My surgeon said 70-100g Protein and 64oz of Water is a must. Especially first three weeks.

Here is the thing, you just had a very major surgery. On to

Of that it is very difficult to get all your fluids and Protein in the first couple of weeks. You are going to be drained of energy those first couple of weeks.

Just take it one day at a time and do your best to stay hydrated. I promise this will get better.

For now, you need to listen to your body. It is going through enormous changes.

Be good to yourself and good luck! It will get better!

It took me a good 2 weeks post op to regain my energy. even at almost 4 weeks, when I push myself I feel very tired. I just rest when I'm tired. It's getting better though. I do feel like I have taken a dose of my 9 year old's energy at times. I feel amazing and better than ever.

You just had major surgery!!! Your body is using all of its energy to heal. Give yourself a break and let your body do what it needs to do while you try to get in your Protein and follow doctor's orders. You'll get your energy back an then some! Don't rush it though

I had surgery 4/23 I'm still exhausted and like you I'm annoyed by it ! I'm used to always on the go, working literally 4 jobs at one time and now I have zero energy ! I used to think naps were for the weak and I'm just now to the point I can make it through the day without. I also became dehydrated and ended up with pneumonia which has drug it out even longer. I agree keep with the liquids, the Protein will come later ! Hang in there, I hear it gets better ! Lol

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
