I started on a journey to health after seeing myself in pictures of my son's wedding. Between health issues and lack of energy I had nearly given up and accepted life was just going to be as it was. And then I decided NO. It will not be luke that. Life can be so much more.

I began slowly losing the weight. Watching what I ate. Mixing all the facts I've learned over the years from dieting. I lost about 20 lbs on my own. Not quite what I had hoped for. Lol

I decided to take the plunge and get serious so I could play with my grandbabies. Get on the floor (and know I could get back up without assistance.)???? I was sleeved on 2/27/15. Pre surgery from highest weight I lost 30lbs total. Post surgery I have lost 42lbs for a grand total of 72lbs. What an amazing journey this has become. Well worth it all.

Thanks so much! I can remember how miserable I was the day of the first pic and I almost feel like I am a different person now. I have a long way to go but feel 100% better already!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
