As with revision surgeries they are not as effective as the original surgery where they don't give you the same bang for the buck. I wish you well and hope it works out for you.

@@band-4-life

Lots of people experience exactly what you describe with lap band surgery. Rapid weight "loss" right after surgery, then a period of time where they don't lose any....or actually "gain" some. Totally normal! Who wouldn't lose on a clear liquid diet?

Your surgeon may not have put any ( or not much ) Fluid in your band during surgery. That usually comes somewhere after the first month to 6 weeks post op. And it may take several fills/adjustments to tweak your band to provide optimal results.

Until you get to that happy spot ( you'll hear referred to as the "Green Zone" ), just do your best. You are in what we refer to as lap band "bandster hell"...... the time until you get your band properly adjusted.

Best wishes!

BOB patients (band over bypass) tend to find they lose slowly. Certainly nothing like the loss you probably experienced at the start of being bypassed.

Don't think of it being 23lbs in 2 weeks and then nothing, think of it as 23lbs in 9 weeks which is way over the average loss expected with the band. If you are eating fewer calories than you burn, you will lose weight.

Thank you all for your input. I really appreciate it. I am eating fewer calories. Going to the gym 3 to 4 time a week plus have a personal trainer. My fill so far is 5mg. I'm not getting another fill until June.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
