Well I did it! I got banded June 14th with Dr. Mumford. I had a little bit a problem coming out of the anesthesia but other than that it hasn't been that bad!! I have also been loving the Codeine so that may be a big helper!! I do feel hungry! That just started today. They told me to have 1 Optifast spilt into 3 everyday! How was that for everyone else? Did anyone take more optifast? I have it and I feel full... but then an hour or so later i feel like am hungry and want some more! I haven't had any 'cause i don't wanna screw things up! What are everyone's thoughts?!

Welcome to band world.

I'm so glad things went really well for you.

Hunger was normal for me. I was able to have the Isopro Protein Drink mixed with Water the first few days. That really helped, but you're right 1/2 hr later I was hungry again. I would supplement with broths, popsicles, jell-o, apple and cranberry juices. The juices really helped.

Personally I experienced my hunger getting worst as I moved to full fluids and now that I'm on pureed foods my hunger is under control but my cravings are running rampant :cry. I'm getting to the point that I can't wait to go in for my first fill. Good luck to you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
