I have a surgery date - May 20!

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I've been a lurker here, reading your posts while going through all the prep steps required by insurance. Just got the letter of approval and I can't believe surgery is later this month. I'm so, so, so ready after all this waiting. Felt like it was finally time to post something.

Anyone else with a late May date?

Looking forward to journeying with you!
Deb

Congratulations on your date! My surgery is May 19th. This is my fourth week on a strict pre-op diet. So far I've lost 22.5 pounds. I'm glad you've joined us.

Where did the time go? I just had my surgical preop training, and my last preop dietary appt. today. My surgery is on the 20th, too. Next week Wednesday!!! I'm so excited. It's been a long journey already, just to get to this point.

Keep in touch ... lots of May 20th people it seems.

Congrats on getting your date. I'm right there with you too. My date is the 19th. My official pre op diet starts tomorrow. I've been trying to start early with varying levels of success. Tomorrow no more fooling around! Looking forward to keeping up with your journey along with the rest of the May club. ????

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
