banders in British Columbia

Hey all,

I'm in Toronto and got my band at TLBC

However, my mom back in BC is looking to get one too!

She found one doctor in Delta, but they have like a 4 month wait or something...

Sooo, I was wondering if any of you knew where else in the Lowermainland she could get it done???

She lives in Surrey, fyi.

Hi,

has anyone have had their lap done in b.c.?

Yes in fact we have a support group that meets at the Lions Gate Hospital every 3rd Wednesday of the month. Nothing formal just a social chit chat. Come on out

OK, now I can say there is a surgeon in Kelowna BC who does lapbands.

Dr Kluftinger

203-3040 Tutt Street Kelowna, BC V1Y 2H5 - (250) 763-2226

  • 4 months later...

how is he? does he offer after care?

I just had a fill from Dr Kluftinger last week and he is very approachable and respectful. Youngish guy.

He will take patients with a BMI of 35 or higher and ya, I like him. He told me a bit about what he offers, such as his patients see a his nutritionist and exercise specialist. He will take any patients for fills, and charges 125.00.

I am just really happy to have someone local for my fills and follow ups.

There is my surgeon, Dr Leung who works out of Surrey Memorial. Is office is in a building right beside the hospital.

Here is his contact information, along with the only other surgeons in BC that do Lap Band. Don't know of any new ones, but good luck with your search.

I had an absolutely HORRIBLE experience with Dr. Leung. 6 Days after my surgery I had fever and chills and told him about it, saying it feels like an infection. He ignored me and told me I was eating too much....I had only had broth. Fast forward a year later, in and out of hospital until they finally pulled it out of me. He had put it in incorrectly, pinched a hole in my stomach and I had mass amounts of fluid draining into my abdominal wall. I ended up with necrosis, all because he ignored my concerns, I also wasted $13,000 for a year full of pain. DO NOT SEE HIM!!

Dr. Ric Arseneau works out of St. Paul's Hospital will do fills for anyone requiring one. He will accept patients from other doctors and also patients from out of country. He requires initial contact via e-mail and a family doctor referrral to him. Fills are $150.00

contact him at: richarda@interchange.ubc.ca

Thank you for posting this information! I was banded by Leung but dread going back to him, so I will make sure to get a referral to Dr. A.

I heard Dr. Leung lacks "bed-side manner". Hopefully Dr. A is a better match for you! Best of luck!
