Scared that stomach is stretched

Recommended Posts

I'm a month and 2 days post-op. I'm in the 'soft & blended' phase along with some crispy foods. But I haven't experience any probs such as nausea, etc so I tried to eat some bigger portions of foods like chicken, even Pasta, still about 1/2 the size of portions I used to eat but certainly larger than the 3/4 cup at one meal that my nutritionist recommended. It's hard to measure certain foods like that for me like if you get a quesadilla or something that isn't liquid. I'm so scared that I've messed my new stomach or that the band will slip b/c of this. My scars across my stomach are even feeling tight the past few days making me think my stomach is growing. Maybe I'm just paranoid but I almost want a CAT-scan or something so I can see that I haven't done any damage. And I'm scared that I don't have the willpower for lack of a better word to do this. Sorry so long, this is one of my first few times posting but I'm really scared. Anyone have any advice or opinions? I'd really appreciate it as the fellow who is overseeing my support group and the nutritionist are both leaving so I feel very vulnerable without a lot of support (and I was the only lap-band patient out of 15 people at the support group meeting so I felt out of the loop so to speak).

Before my first fill , I could eat a 12 ounce Stoffers Mac n cheese and a pudding cup.

After my fill is when I had true restriction. After fill I could only barely eat 1/2 of mac n cheese. My dog was thrilled. Before she would get 2 pieces of Pasta and lick the plastic tray.

Also I could tell it was time for my second fill when I could eat more .

I set the appt for second fill.

Surgery July 19 06

First fill 6 weeks after surgery

Second fill Dec 8 or 9 06

Goal Mar 07

down 105

now 115

best wishes

Really?? You don't know how much better that makes me feel. Were you also thinking that your stomach was getting stretched or is that only my paranoia ;)? I'm trying to remember to eat slowly and a few ounces at a time, esp in this soft & blended phase, but unfortunately my mind hasn't caught up w/ my body yet so habits are winning. You look wonderful by the way! Thank you for your input and congrats to you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
