Hi, I'm just introducing myself, I'm Karl and I'm new here.

I'm new here and hope to learn more from a lot of you. I have already met with my surgeon and I will be having the Gastric Bypass done. I’ve already met with my dietician and started my 3 months of classes needed by my Ins. Co. Now I meet with my psychiatric on Monday May 1st for clearance. I hope to chat with a lot of you over time and share our stories.

Alright then…you are on track to changing your life. This is a great place to read so many different views and situations. Try to look over as much as possible. It really does prepare you for the worst but then makes everything so sweet when you feel pretty okay. Not great but pretty good considering what you just did.

Every one will tell you "walk and sip water" words to follow.

After that all your "new steps" to follow will fall into place. Just take it one day at a time.

I wish you well and hope you are as happy as I am now. Before you know it you will be celebrating you loss.

Hi Karl! I think you will find that this place is amazing for advice and tips on everything you could possibly think of! I had my surgery (gastric bypass) 12 days ago and I have counted on this forum to answer my questions and reassure me at least 5 times a day every day lol. It's also very good for motivation! When I'm feeling like I made a huge mistake or when I'm hurting or having issues with stuff I just read through the success stories on here and look at all the pictures of everyone's amazing transformations. You're on the right track!! Don't get discouraged! And good luck! I look forward to seeing your progress!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
