Fiber. Does anyone take fiber supplements? Chewables etc? I need fiber! :)

I find that I need more Fiber in my diet. I am extremely constipated all the time! Does anyone take anything like FiberPlus chewables, or anything of that nature? Thanks for any help. :)

I eat Vitafusion Fiber Well gummies. 2 a day when all is moving normally, 4 a day when there have been no BM's in my neighborhood, so to speak! :) They are delicious and taste like candy!

Be careful with the fiber though. Most fiber supplements are soluble fiber, and in certain cases, too much of it can have the opposite effect. Our bodies need both soluble and insoluble fiber. Constipation has been my constant companion since my surgery. Even though I get plenty of soluble fiber in my diet, I find that I have to resort to medications or Smooth Move tea to keep things moving.

My NUT has recommended Benefiber (I use the Shopko brand, much cheaper). It works well, and keeps everything regular. No issues at all. Just mix it in Water or other beverage. It is clear and flavorless. You won't know it's there. Use it everyday, keeps you on track. Good luck to you!

costco has a comparable fibre product to the benefibre called kirkland signature optifibre. I believe Amazon sells this also. It is tasteless and mixes well with Water etc. i started to use this but now 6 months out i dont really need it as im quite regular now.

I am 2.5 years out and due to having to take specific pain meds which make you more bunged up - I take dulcoease and duclolax every 2-3 days if I don't go naturally - not sure if you get that in US as I'm in UK?

Benefibre, chia seeds in my yogurt and some Smooth Move tea (a couple x's a week) are the only things that seem to work for me right now. It has changed over time. At one point the only thing that worked was prunes in warm water...then it stopped working and since I really didn't care for them...I stopped it. Every few months though, it seems i have to switch things up again. Most importantly I must keep up my Water intake or nothing works for me

Thanks, everyone, for all the helpful comments. :) I bought some chewables this week and will try them. I'll try the others too, if these don't work.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
