Pre Surgery AnXiEtY! 16 days

Recommended Posts

Does anyone else have pre surgery anxiety? I am freaking out all I can think about is life afterwards. I'm horrified I'm going to be sick forever and not be able to function this summer. i love being outside and playing with the kids. Do you think ill feel normal...ish? Now that its so close I'm analyzing everything over again. sigh! Any positive words would be greatly appreciated!

You should be able to do all you normally do. And MORE!!!!! Think of the TINY clothes you will fit into, the fact that your life will no longer revolve around food in a negative way, think of how comfortably you'll fit into that chair, or amusement park ride, think of how much longer you will live - to see your kids grow up and have kids of their own....the joys of this adventure are endless, you have ALOT to look forward to!

There WILL be difficult times, but like childbirth, they pass. Research the surgery and what comes after, read posts on this site about what people have experienced. You may or may not have the same issues, but by reading up on them now, you will be better prepared. It seems the ones who have the hardest times are the ones who only see the here and now, and don't look ahead. ALWAYS LOOK FORWARD, ALWAYS! See PAST the difficult times, it will help you get through them much more pleasantly. All the best to you...

Wow, you nailed it. Fit in a chair.... How did I forget that. Visiting any amusement park and not having extreme anxiety because I know I won't fit. I really needed to hear that! THANK YOU CANYONBABY!!!!

I am 10 days pre-op and I am getting nervous-you would not be human if you were not. Think of all of the work you have done in preparation pre-op and for the post op life-that is what is keeping me calm. I have worked too hard to give up now! Hang in there! Keep up the great work!

I'm scheduled for 4/27 and just trying to keep myself busy and kind of distracted til then. But thoughts keep creeping in for me, too. I just truly don't know what to expect as far as the pain and I hear that it is different for everyone. I haven't had a surgery since I was 6 yrs old (tonsillectomy)!!

I am post surgery 28 days. I may have been one of the lucky ones but after only 3 days I would have told you that you were nuts if you thought I had gone through any surgery at all. I have had ZERO issues at all during these 28 days. It will be done before you know it and you will be dropping the pounds silly fast. I am already down 30 pounds including pre one week diet. The BIGGEST suggestion I can give you is to get up and walk as soon as you can and doctor allows. WALK WALK WALK AND REPEAT.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
