For the first time in my life, I don't have a weight problem...BUT...

Recommended Posts

...I don't feel like I can share it with many of my other sleever pals. Most of them are still considered obese, even though we were sleeved around the same time. I feel guilty posting about my success in our groups, because I don't want to make others feel bad. At the same time, they are the only people I know who understand what this process is like. At first we were all united and very supportive of each other. Now I just feel like every time I share a success, they get upset about it.

Anyone else have this experience?

Congratulations. Even with the sleeve some of us are still going to be considered over weight or even obese. Even after an 87 pound loss I am still listed as obese, however my BmI was once 49. Now it's 33 and with 13 pounds to go for my goal I'll go from obese to overweight. I'll take it. My message before I got sidetracked was, it's ok. To be excited about your loss. Don't worry about the others.

That's a tough one. You should not have to tamper your joy and your success because someone else has not reached their goal. They should look at you as a role model and a source of inspiration. If they choose not to, seems to me that it's their problem, not yours. :)

Find new groups. We should Celebrate each other.

I tend to agree with @@LipstickLady on this issue, however it brings me to my own journey since being sleeved. A lot of people since i was sleeved have almost reached goal, I'm only half way there. Am i jealous? Heck no as i have started off almost 100lbs heavier than what they started at. So are you sure its just not your perception that they feel that way?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
