I have had trouble since day one- the lap band was just a good fit for me, back in November I had to have all the Fluid taken out because I got where I couldn't even hold down sips of Water. anyway I went back to my doctor in March to get a fill and try to start over and he wouldn't do the fill until I had a scope done to make sure the band was still in the right place.... that is when I found out it was eroded into my stomach. so now I am just waiting to have it taken out. my doctor said all this would have to heal before he could do a sleeve or anything else, so another surgery..... I think I am just done!

Sorry to hear that especially since it hasn't even been a whole year of you having the band. Wow! Kind regards to you.

I am sorry for your difficulty. I am surprised that it would erode that quickly. I wonder if the Dr knows what would cause that? I know mine prohibits carbonation , and Ibuprofen but if you did not use either of those how could the band erode so quickly? I would like to know what they found if you can follow up.

Sorry for your bad experience. I'm watching this thread too to learn from it.

I am having the band removed tomorrow. Hopefully they can do it endoscope so I won't have to have surgery. The dr. Said he really doesn't know what caused it. He said this is just one of the complications. I will post more after it is removed. Thanks for all the support.

I had my band removed on Friday. It turned out to be way bigger deal than was anticipated. They were able to do it endoscopic but had to intubate me and it took almost two hours. I can safely say I will not be getting another lap band. This has been almost a year of hell. Not to mention all the expense and time off work. I had been telling my doctor for months that something wasn't right, but of course he was the doctor so knew more than me. Lol.

Good for you to take care of yourself. So sorry you had this terrible problem. It goes to show, we should (quite literally!) listen to our guts if something feels wrong!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
