luckily I haven't had any problems with the incisions they used glue on top of them and they also gave me a stomach wrap like a elastic binder to wrap around my body help with keeping it together.

@@imjenn Im so sorry to hear of your rough time. My incisions are are driving me crazy, they are itching soooo much, and every time I itch them they hurt. Its maddening!

@@Salonboi Yes, I did visit Charlotte fairly often, Our family had some good times there. Dad has since moved to Richmond.

@@dawnyoung872 I used to live in Murrells Inlet SC and my daughter was born in Georgetown! We loved SC.

Its Thursday for me, when I move to the next stage of washable /soft foods, like scrambled eggs. I can't wait. 2 weeks on that until I move to the next stage, real food. I am experiencing head hunger. But I worry that my pouch is too big. Ive been able to drink my shakes (2 a day) and brother and yogurt (5oz) with out feeling full. I of course worry I will be the only one with a pouch too big, and unable to lose significant weight. oh dear

It's a pretty city for sure ????

Actually not feeling hungry at all and I'm suprised I thought I would have cravings for food and sweets. I haven't had any hunger pains. I weighed myself today and I'm 9 lbs down from Monday.

Congrats on the 9lbs ???? that's awesome.. I have fleeting moments of head/stomach hunger.. It's still rather confusing..
@salonboi. Well put, rather confusing.
Thanks ????

I had my surgery May 7th. I'm ten days post op. I regret it. I'm so hungry and miss food, I also wasn't even that fat to begin with, I did it all for the wrong reasons. Now I'm gonna get skinny which is great but I'm super starving and miss chipotle, fast food and pastas.< /p>

Has anything gotten better yet? I know it's a hard road, when we were so used to eating whatever and whenever. I just keep telling myself it'll all be worth it soon. It doesn't always help in the moment, but softens the blow a little. I hope it gets easier for ya soon.

The good and the bad...Today is two weeks after my surgery and I have been reflecting back. The bad...head hunger, eating extremely small portions...about half of what my kids eat, not being able to eat what my wife cooks, restaurants and eating out, limited food selection, weak feelings, nausea, vomiting diarrhea, watching my kids devour s'mores. The good...35lbs lost in 3 weeks, down 2 clothes sizes, compliments from coworkers, no hunger, leaving my plate not empty, new old clothes, feeling healthier, better sex, better example for my kids, looking forward to cycling and running and boating and wake boarding.

I know there are lots of ups and downs and my emotions can be all over the place. I know there is a light at the end of the tunnel. At least I can see it. Every day is new day and a new opportunity. I am glad to be on this journey.

Most definitely ups and downs, it's tough when you can't use food as comfort anymore. I know I'm still in mourning. It's eased some, but when it rears its ugly head, it's quite prevalent. Keep on keeping on. And always get up.. I read that somewhere, and I like that.

Hey everyone. Ok , so yesterday I decided carpet in living room needed vacuum , it's a room area rug. So I did run the vacuum and felt a little pull in one of my incision areas. Did t pay much attention. Omg by last night the area is so sore, feels like it's torn inside , painful when I move. Gonna just take it easy today and see if it gets any better. I'm 13 days post op today , I guess too soon for some things. Have follow up appt with surgeon this Friday so going to see how feels by then. Yikes!

Omg yes take it easy. I find I keep trying to do chores or pick up things that are way to heavy, on accident of course. I hope everything is ok..

Ouch! Take it easy! I remember my CNP telling me that it's very common to feel pulls and tugs especially if it's an incision with some underlying stitches! If it gets worse, don't be Afraid to call! I've called twice because I've had a rash and might have an infected incision AND thrush! It's a journey, for sure!
Thanks Jenn. I am taking it easy now. Yes , with the inside stitches have to be careful, I just figured I was 13 days post op and should be ok. I was wrong , inside takes longer to heal. I'm feeling a bit better today.

How did you make out with your incisions , do you have an infection , what did doctor say.

Not even kidding, I did the same thing you did today while I was getting in my car. Sharp pain, then it became dull and started fading! Can see how it'd freak you out!

And good! No infection just a weird reaction where the glue met part of the incision that was scabbed over! She pulled the glue off and has me Doing bacitracin and band aids for a while over that one!

I do have thrush too. So i am NOT looking forward to the nystatin mouth rinse ????

Thank you for asking!

Your welcome. Really glad to hear no big ingestion to worry about.

Thrush, keep up with the mouth rinses, thrush can clear up pretty quickly. As for our incision areas have to careful. They appear pretty much healed on the outside but inside no way.

I was to start soft food tomorrow , I couldn't wait. Started soft today.

Had cottage cheese for Breakfast , cottage cheese never tasted so good. Lol.

Didn't I tell ya, that cottage cheese tasted like heaven in your mouth lol.. And yes we are still healing on inside. I found that out yesterday with my first dumping episode. It lasted for almost and hour and a half. Sooooo not fun. I had to hold my stomach with arm propped up on one knee to vomit ???? that Sh:t hurt .. But I survived. I kept getting burpy foamyness in back of throat, a few hours after. My gut is a little sore but mostly good now. That's why I wasn't on last night. I ate my food a bit to fast and paid the price. My 4 almost 5 year old son decided to act a fool at dinner, and I had to have a come to Jesus meeting with him, and it just frazzled me and all new eating habits went out the window. Never again.. He can just be a butt. Cause it was so not worth it lol.

I started soft foods a day early , today. Couldn't help it , just couldn't drink anymore Protein.

I made the mock lasagna for lunch , really enjoyed. Thanks again for sharing. So I put 2 small to medium size pieces on my plate. Was only able to eat fraction of what was on plate. The eyes want it but the stomach said oh no don't.

Anyway, thanks for sharing.

So glad you liked it. It really is yummy.. I know, I keep putting to much on my plate and realizing that was the old me..

Hang in a week goes by fast, soft / puréed foods will taste wonderful.

I started them yesterday , a day early and tolerated well ( I am not suggesting anyone start soft / puréed foods earlier then their doctor recommends).

Belly binder , how did that work out , was it comfortable.

For sure have to realize we can no longer eat the amounts of foods that we did in the past. I'm still working on that. Takes time.

I'm eating on small plates, small bowls, etc. even bought a few really small coffee cups (espresso cups) for my morning Decaf.

Oh no , dumping episode...... Sounds awful. I haven't had any vomiting but I have had that uh oh I may have taken one bite too many.

I may sound sick but when I get that feeling of I ate too much but really didn't eat that much , it feels great , not the pain , just the thought that I can't eat like I used to. Hooray!

We're all still in our learning phase. Takes time. Hope your feeling better today.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
