Revised December 2014 I have lost 20 lbs and not stall for 2 months

Could pain meds cause this? I had a a car accident and have had to take them. I have had my thyroid checked everything is OK the Lap Band was a failure and now I feel like I've spent all this money and it's been a failure as well someone please help me understand this

Are you tracking your Protein? Calories? Drinking all your Water? Keeping your carbs low? Exercising? You gotta give us more info in order for us to help.

I know you said you're on pain meds due to a car accident. Does that mean you're limited on exercising?

I'm not a lap-band patient, so I know little about your situation. Have you been in touch with your NUT to see about caloric intake and scheduled "fills"? Did you check with the pharmacist or online to see if your pain killer can cause weight gain? Don't throw in the towel yet. It's a setback and I'm sure you are frustrated, but you can do this!

Best,

Amy

You didn't say what you're eating, but try going back to basics. I did this after a 3 week stall and it worked. Eat only Protein. No veggies or fruit. Try it for a week and see if it gives you a kick start.

Stress can make it hard to lose weight too. Its hard but try to trust in the process. Go over your diet make sure you have enough protien and calories. If your not eating enough you wont lose either.

Pain meds - and pain - and inactivity - can absolutely stall weight loss.

Constipated? It's a side effect, and I know it can add a pound or two for me.

Something that I've noticed, too, is the smaller I get the slower I go.

Of course, having had some health challenges the last couple of months - my diet has been much more skittles and potato chips, much less lean and green.... I consider the surgery a success right now because I've only gained four pounds in the last month. Prior to surgery, it would have been closer to 25.

What do you mean you thyroid is 'ok'. What is your TSH and FT4, if you don't mind sharing? What's your cholesterol and your A1C?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
