Does anyone have the problem where drinking Water makes them burp excessively? It doesn't happen when I eat, just when drinking water. I don't use a straw, I don't take giant gulps and I go fairly slowly. Yet I burp like a maniac. I asked my doctor about it and she said go even slower. The problem with that is that if I went any slower, the only way I'd get all my water in is if I did nothing else all day except sip. Despite that, I gave it a try and it made no difference.

I burp after eating and burping is also my signal that I am full. Drinking Water I am fine.

How far out from surgery are you? I had this problem a lot in my early weeks post-op, but it was fine after the first month or so unless I was drinking room temperature Water. For some reason it was less of an issue if I was drinking really ice cold water or hot beverages.< /p>

I burp and gurgle when I drink anything. Eating, not so much, only when I get full

JamieLogical I am 2 months out

Have you experimented with different temperatures of Water?

JamieLogical no I actually hadn't thought of that. I tend to only drink room temperature Water.

I had the most trouble with room-temp Water. Really really cold ice water or hot beverages are much easier for me.

Cold temperatures work best for me too. I haven't been able to tolerate plain Water post op ( I am nine months post op) so I drink propel zero calorie water and that goes down much easier for me.

You can just experiment with different types water and temperatures to find what works best for you.

This actually happened to me for the first time last night, to the point where to stop it was to rid myself of the Water that i just drank! Was a horrid experience, but i know what i did wrong, i drank water too quickly and made my insides feel like they were drowning in water! Ugh i won't be doing that again any time soon! Sip sip sip for the rest of my days, never ever again will i take big gulps!

On the other hand, do you have access to ice chips? You get small amounts of Water slower than actually drinking, so it may help.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
