Someone be my friend! 25/f/NY

Recommended Posts

Hey there. I looked on the forums for twenty something's and it was a ghost town! I just had my bypass 3/31 and I'm healing well. I'm looking for someone my age who would like to text updates and keep each other positive. I'd prefer someone in a similar stage of the surgery but I am open and truly just would love to make a connection with someone who is looking for something similar. Please respond or pm me. :)

Hi there, haven't had the bypass yet, I'm scheduled for 4/22... I too am looking for someone to connect with and get thru the many upcoming stages! I'm not too savy with the site yet, so add me if interested. Good luck! I'd love to know how your doing.

Hi bangbangbarbie,

I am 28/f/ny and scheduled for a VSG on May 1st. I am not quite at the same stage as you are post-op but would love to hear about your experience and possibly keep in touch along the way. Where abouts in NY are you and where did you have your surgery? How are you feeling now?

Diana

Hello friend,

If age is flexible I'll be your friend. I had my RNY April 2, and in stage 2 of recovery. While I will have a monthly support group meeting, sharing experiences with someone else will aid recovery. Meanwhile, my 2 cats are giving me daily support and will send some to you too.

Hey @@bangbangbarbie! Ya the 20-something forum is a ghost town! I'm 25, had my RnY on 03/26/15 and live in Ontario Canada. I know exactly what you're talking about, this is all a bit tricky to navigate and it is helpful having people who are going through the same thing. Feel free to drop me a line!

Hope you're doing well :)

I am a member of the May sleevers group and they have a very active private group on Facebook. Would that be a more convenient way for everyone to communicate? I would be more than happy to set something up if you all think so! There is zero way for anyone else to see that you are a member of the group :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
