Recommended Posts

@@sh1211

I found samples at unjury', and Bariatric Choice and there is another place called Natasha? Not sure of name on last one. Also picked up a sample pack at netrition I also got some individual bottles of Isopure RTD for right after surgery it is clear liquid with 40 grams of Protein. THe other sample pack I got was syntax nectar from smart body nutrition. I didn't want to buy big containers until I figured out what flavors I liked:). To find them I just did a google search for protein powders or drink samplers:). Hope this helps

You are very welcome:). I am in a rural area so figured if I wanted to sample I would have to do online.

My hernia was a SURPRISE, so was repaired at the time of surgery. No issues to date, but then again, I had no hernia issues prior to surgery, either. Didn't even know it was there. But apparently she was a good sized one, and took awhile to fix. The only thing was after the surgery, taking Water was very difficult, and sometimes it still is. So we take care of that by drinking warm (not hot) water 1st thing in the morning, so as to not shock the already contracted tummy, and eating a couple of bites of soft food before eating anything hard or crunchy, to sort of "prime" the tummy for other foods. I've been told it will take about a year for my hernia to fully heal, and to not lift anything over 10lbs until cleared, again about a year. Good luck to you all....

This identical to me. Total surprise. The only thing is when I woke up in recovery I couldn't hardly breathe. Very short breaths. I'm fine now, no issues at all except the water.

My VSG and hernia repair is this coming Thursday! The hernia was a total surprise, found during my endoscopy. I haven't had any symptoms of a hiatal hernia, so I'll be surprised to see what differences I feel after surgery. I'll try to let you know, though!

I had hernia repair and surgery at the same time. I didn't know I had a hernia so I had no issues before and have had no complications or issues with Gerd, acid reflux or heartburn post-op.

Best wishes to you!

@@sh1211 no I did not. I didn't know I had a hernia until I had an endo. I have no issues with GERD, acid reflux or heartburn now either and I am a spicy food and coffee kinda girl.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
