Silk Cashew Milk Unsweetened

Recommended Posts

We finally found the new Silk Cashew Milk. I love it! Well, I love it with a little Splenda and cinnamon. It's okay without it, but a great treat for after dinner or a snack, and filling too. 25 calories for 1 cup and high in Calcium. post-207041-1428107634065_thumb.jpg post-207041-14281076839678_thumb.jpg

Does it taste anything like almond milk? I couldn't do the almond milk at all.

It's thicker and has a hint of cashew flavor, but not overpowering by any means. I have missed milk and this is great for me as a replacement.

I'm a mix it up kind of gal, so I always try new and different things. I have a Protein smoothie everyday and have used dairy milk, almond milk, coconut milk, hemp milk and now cashew milk to mix in my smoothie. It does have a bit of a cashew flavor, but not bad. It's OK with my chocolate and vanilla Protein, but I didn't like it with the strawberry. Of all the milks I've tried, unsweetened Hemp milk is the worst. I probably couldn't drink it plain, but the cashew I can.

The only problem with the non-dairy milks is that they all have carrageenan added to them. I found just one brand of coconut milk that doesn't add it. So although I do like variety, good old cows milk is my go-to choice because it doesn't have all the extra crap added to it.

I was not lactose intolerant pre surgery, but I am pretty sure I am now. Yesterday, I bought lactaid milk and used it in my baby oatmeal this morning and found no discomfort afterwards. I am only a couple weeks post op, so any advice on other milks for me try is much appreciated.

I was lactose intolerant after surgery, too. The funny thing is I could tolerate Greek yogurt but not milk. Fortunately the symptoms disappeared after about 4 months. During that time I stuck with Lactaid milk and Soy milk because the alternative almond milk, coconut milk, etc. have almost no Protein. Now that I'm in maintenance and have no problems getting in all my protein, I have added in some of those other milks. BTW, I also couldn't tolerate plain Water or artificial sweeteners postop, but that passed around the 4 month mark, too.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
