So Monday, April 6 is the day. I work in healthcare, so today being Good Friday didn't even register because I worked. I'm working tomorrow too. I'm not really nervous about the surgery (much), but no one called to tell me what time to arrive on Monday. When I met with the pre-op anesthesia nurse, she said in passing that I'm scheduled for 7 AM and someone would call me the Friday before to tell me what time I needed to be there. She said it would probably be around 5. I left her a message before lunch, but she must not be working today because she didn't return my call. I'm kind of disappointed because I work for the same healthcare system and work my butt off to provide excellent customer service to my patients (which is the expectation.) So I'm gonna show up at 5 and hope that's correct. I know it is not my fault if it's not, but it's hard not to worry about it. That's my rant.

No. My only hope is that they do "robo calls" like they do for my doctor's office with the automated message to remind you or your appointment. I'm the first surgery, so it probably wouldn't be any earlier than 7 and 2 hours ahead is relatively standard. I would just feel better with confirmation.

That is certainly not ok to do to someone expecting surgery on Monday. What the heck.

Have you called the doctors office or hospital to let them know you did not get the call? I would definately do that.

Good idea showing up early! My own experience was this: I was on time, but the person scheduled to go in BEFORE me chickened out, so I went in immediately! Man, did they shove me through! Didn't even get to kiss my husband by-by or anything! The thing is, though, I sat in recovery for 4 bloody hours waiting for my room, because they didn't have it ready yet! So I got to watch all these poor folks coming out of different surgeries wake up! Got to know the recovery nurses pretty well, too! Saw stuff I probably shouldn't have!!!!! Good luck to all!

Update: While at work yesterday, it occurred to me to call the main number for hospital. The receptionist was really nice, and called up to the OR for me. The charge nurse called me back and gave me the information I needed. Feeling much better, but really looking forward to Tuesday, when my sleeve is done.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
