Do a search on here for Three Week Stall. It's very common and has been posted about countless times. Some of those threads have excellent explanations of why it happens to us.

Congratulations on your progress, that's wonderful!!

1. Step away from the scale. You should weigh yourself no more than once a week. Personally I only weigh myself once a month or when I go to the doctor's whichever come first. Weighing yourself everyday will make you crazy.

Instead take your measurements. Neck, breast, waist and hips. Every 2 -3 months or so take your measurements again. Even when the scale does not move, comparing your measurements will show how your body is changing and adjusting.

2. Make sure you are following your program. That means getting at least 60 gms of Protein, plus your water/fluids and you are following the basic rule of Protein first then veg. Also add in some form of exercise for at least 30 minute a day.

I'm still in a lot of pain concerning my surgery so I am not doing a lot really, I am usually getting bout 600-800cals a day in and sometimes not even that, I just can't believe I am putting enough in to increase my weight! I be 3 weeks post on Friday, I weigh myself once every 3 days as it was falling off and I needed encouragement as my anti depressants haven't kicked in yet so now I think I will stop weighing so much and mayb do it once a week, I know I am due on my monthly so mayb its Water retention it's just really upset me I had it 3stone and now I have gone backwards :-(

You aren't thinking rationally. You yourself have said it could be Water retention because it's that time of the month. That's not a true weight gain. You lost 3 stone(42lbs) in 3 weeks! When has that ever happened? You have to realize that there will stop, starts and times when it will appear that you are gaining as your body undergoes this transformation. If this upsets you, throw away your scale and only get weighed at the doctors.

If you are on your monthly, then surely it is playing havoc with your weight. After just going through Menopause, I can't use that excuse. lol. You are ahead of the curve at 42 pounds, so maybe your body needs to take a deep breath and readjust. It will pass, it will pass, it will pass. Weigh yourself in one week. Don't cheat. Give your scale to a neighbor :0) Go get it back in a week. Let us know what it says. We are all your cheerleaders!

My body shifts weight rather quickly! when I did lighterlife I lost 6 stone in 14 weeks, but sadly then put the 6+5 back on quickly too! Yes I am due on my monthly in the next 2 weeks and my clothes R starting to tighten again meaning I am swelling like I normally do just before I come on!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
