Post-op VSG - How do you feel about your body?

Recommended Posts

To the people who are 6 months+ post op and have lost a large amount of weight (with no plastics)... how do you feel about your body now? Do you love it? Are you still critical of it? Does the excess skin bother you? Do you feel more or less confident when you're naked?

I love how I look. Seriously.

I'm not a hard body or a perfect body. But then I'm 69 years old.

Bottom line is I look SO MUCH BETTER THAN I DID 80 POUNDS AGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will be 6 months post op on April 27th. I am down 86lbs from 314. Right now I am not to mad at my body. lol For the amount that I have lost so far, so far I am happy with how things look. I am noticing that areas are getting a little saggier, that my boobs really only look good in a bra (but I have known that since I had my kid 16 yrs ago)

I am trying to look at the positives so far and not focus on the extra skin on my arms, knees, thighs and belly. I knew going into this it would happen. Now once I lose another 50+ pounds we will see how I feel.

I'm 8 months post op and down 91#. I'm still getting used to my new self, bat wing arms, deflated upper thighs and all. Even with the mildly saggy skin, I feel amazing and have been told that I look like a whole different, younger person. I'm not done losing yet, and am excited and happy as I look forward to my healthier future.

This is the best thing that I've ever done for myself.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
