Didn't you get some specific guidelines from your surgeons office / NUT?

You need to contact your surgeon. Everyone's situation is different and it is important that you comply.

No Protein at all i will start Protein after the 35 days

Please confirm this with your surgeon. It doesn't sound right.

You really need to contact your nutritionist and clarify. Everyone here has a different protocol. Also keep in mind that liquids won't really fill you. They slide right through your sleeve. However if you are supposed to be on liquids, you really shouldn't be eating cheese. Lastly you may need a PPI like omeprazole. What you are feeling as hunger may in fact be acid. It's hard to tell the difference early on.

Here's a good guideline. Just do your portion sizes according to what week post op you're on:

1-2 weeks = 1-2 ounces

2-4 weeks = 2-4 ounces

4-6 weeks = 4-6 ounces

6-8 weeks and forever = 6-8 ounces

Just a caution to the original poster, some foods are much denser than others. 4 ounces of steak is still a big portion for me 3 years out. Just go slow, eat until no longer hungry and don't push it. Eating "small" consistently is one of the secrets to long term success.

@@Hisham Hassan,
The program you are describing doesn't sound at all like what most of us were instructed to do. No Protein for 35 days? fruit juices for fluids? Five hours without drinking Water?!! Something's very wrong there! Please contact your doctor and also your nutritionist for clarification as soon as possible. Good luck!

How is your body suppose to heal and function without a Protein source? That's very odd. Protein is extremely important in the way the body functions.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
