Hey ladies. I'm 5 days post op and just got my period. Now that may not seem that crazy except i haven't had a period in years. Anyone else experience this?

I read somewhere that sometimes when you lose belly fat it releases the stored estrogen. Some people have teenage like symptoms such as zits, moodiness and heavy periods.

Lucky you. I have not had one since I was 38 and I will be 50 in May. My doctor even tried to Kick-Start me and it did not work. :(

I got mine 3 days after surgery ... But it was expected since they recommended to be off the birth control for a month out before surgery.

I have heard that your hormones change due to the fluctuations in weight.

TMI but I've been wondering :/ I got my period the day after my surgery, my period has always been light, medium for three days and will then go back to light and finish within 5 days of starting. This time my period is a whole other beast! I have been bleeding very heavily, not soaking per hour, but it is noticeably different, today is day 7 and I'm still bleeding...not as heavy but it's there ????....is this just how things are now until I lose all the weight or is it like a one time thing?

This is exactly what happened to me. I haven't had a period that heavy since my teens. And I'm on the pill too. My next period was completely normal for me though, so it seemed like a one-time thing due to the stress to the body after surgery.

I guess I will add that mine was also super heavy and longer lasting than usual. I know I got anti clotting medication after surgery- that might also have something to do with it.

I'm so relieved to hear that! Thank you!

I was also thinking the anti-clotting medicine had something to do with it, but didn't know if I was reaching! Glad I'm not the only one though

I'm terrified of it being heavier! I already have very heavy periods to begin with. Although my period started day before surgery and it was actually really light (compared to normal) which surprised me bc of all the meds!

My doc actually told me that after surgery my period would get heavier. My period was heavy before but the first month out was crazy.

My last period(I've had two since surgery) was back to normal. Not overnight heavy but my normal heavy.

They said my body is adjusting to changes so my period may change as a result.

Following! I have surgery in less than 3 weeks and haven't had a period in years unless I was on the pill. That'd be amazing if it worked that soon. I have other issues such as endometrial cancer thanks to PCOS so having a period would be a blessing for me and hopefully a cure????

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
